According to the plan, the Outlook Lite app will be released globally at some point this month. According to reports, the Outlook Lite software is currently available in a few countries, indicating that Microsoft is preparing it for a wider release. According to Microsoft's own literature, Outlook Lite will only support Outlook, Hotmail, Live, and MSN accounts and will not support business or school accounts.

Meta was one of the first major technology businesses to release a streamlined version of its original Facebook Android app. Facebook Lite debuted in 2015 as a 1MB app aimed squarely at developing markets. In 2018, Google released its "Go" series of lightweight Android applications, including Gmail Go.

With over 500 million downloads on the Google Play Store, Outlook mobile is one of the most popular email applications for content transfer on Android. Outlook is recommended by The Verge as the finest iOS email client and a top Android pick.

In addition, Microsoft is testing a new Outlook for Windows app. The new software is now in beta testing and is based on Outlook on the web. In the next years, it will gradually replace the Outlook for Windows program.
