Windows 11's Taskbar Overflow Is Great for Multitaskers

Microsoft is adding a new taskbar overflow feature to Windows 11 to make it simpler to discover open programs when you run out of taskbar space. It's ideal for power users or those who want to have all of their applications open at all times.

The new taskbar overflow option shows when you run out of taskbar space and elegantly conceals all the programs that can't fit on the taskbar all at once.

Taskbar Overflow

At the moment, the taskbar in Windows 11 and Windows 10 will generate an overflow area if you launch an excessive number of programs. This area will only display the most recently used or opened app in either operating system. Because of this, it is possible that if you are an app connoisseur, you may find it challenging to move between a large number of applications on the smaller displays of laptop computers, particularly if you do not make use of the alt+tab key combination or other multitasking functions.

The new overflow menu is designed to be compatible with Windows 11 and incorporates all of the taskbar functionality that users have come to expect, such as the ability to pin programs such as copy my data apps and jump lists. According to Amanda Langowski, who is in charge of the Windows Insider program for Microsoft, "After calling overflow, the menu will discreetly dismiss whenever you click outside of it or browse to an application." New adjustments were implemented by Microsoft only a few days after the firm disclosed that it is testing a new user interface for the Windows 11 taskbar. The multinational software corporation is exploring the possibility of reintroducing the well-known search bar from Windows 10 to the Widgets area of Windows 11, in addition to adding notification badges.

This new overflow functionality is available for testing in the most recent version of the Dev Channel, which was published earlier this week. Microsoft is also evaluating changes to the "nearby sharing" capability, which is similar to AirDrop and is included in Windows 11. You will now be able to swiftly identify neighboring PCs to fast share files since the built-in share window now supports UDP to find nearby devices. This implies that you will now be able to transfer files more quickly. If you share local files using the share interface, Microsoft is introducing OneDrive integration to make it fast and simple to upload and distribute files to the cloud. This connection will be available for users who share local files.

Before We Go, One Last Note

In addition, an update will be released this week for the Microsoft Store that will make it simpler to check the costs of items like as movies, applications, and games. Additionally, it is now much simpler to see the various versions of a game. This makes it much simpler to compare the pricing of games' regular and deluxe editions in a hurry.
